Tag Rugby Festival – by Joe Allatt and Sam Wright
26th February 2008 we were all getting in to our kits and we were really excited. We knew we were a good team we decided who was going to be a substitute for the first game. We decided very professionally. Our first game was against Hartshead we worked very well as a team and managed to win 5 - 1 they were very good try’s the try scorer’s for this game were: Sam Wright (2), Nicky Oldroyd (1) and Joe Allatt (2).
It gave us a boost of confidence for the next game. The second game was against Whitechapel we were playing very fairly and we won 4 – 1 the try scorers were: James Thomas (2) Jack Edmond (1) and Luke Ainley (1). For the final match against Headlands our tactic was the girls to go through the middle as fast as they could and the girls worked together as a brilliant team and they were passing fantastically and they were centimetres from scoring a try.
The final game was against Headlands and we both were the top two at battle we both had six points each. So we put our original side on with the same tactic. Unfortunately we lost 6 – 5 due to an interception. Our try scorers for that match were: Sam Wright (2), Joe Allatt (1), James Thomas (1) and Nicky Oldroyd. Even thoug we came second we are invited to the finals at Batley bulldogs stadium. The team were:
Sam Wright (C), Joe Allatt, James Thomas ,Jack Edmond, Luke Ainley, Ben Ross, Lydia Pickles, Paige Eckford, Georgia Cryan and Nicky Oldroyd. We couldn’t have done it without Mrs Boardman, Mrs Thomas, Mrs Foster, Mrs Stubbs, Mrs Mott and Mrs Smith.
