Welcome Back
I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday. I am pleased to welcome Mr Chris Green to Roberttown School and to welcome back Mrs Wood.
Parent Governor Vacancy – please see attached nomination form.
I am pleased to inform you that Ms Sarah Eckford will continue her role as Parent Governor for another term of 4 years.
We still have a Parent Governor Vacancy which leaves the Governing Body short of the number needed to function at full effectiveness.
Governors have a key role in the life of the school, with responsibility for checking that our high standards are maintained and that the aims of the school are being achieved.
Kirklees run a series of very useful free training courses for new governors, and we operate a mentoring system within our governing body.
Parent Governors (we have five in total) are nominated by other parents for a four year term of office, but once elected represent the whole school, not just parents. We work very much as a team, governors and staff all pulling together, and everybody puts the interests of the school first. Please would you consider joining us? Being a governor can be a very rewarding experience.
Class Photographs
The photographer will be in school on Friday 11th April to take class photographs.
Beetle / Bingo Social Evening – Friday 18th April at 7pm
Tickets are now available for the social evening on Friday 18th April. Tickets cost £2 per adult, £1 per child or £5 for a family ticket. We welcome your support at this event and hope to see lots of families enjoying the fun. If you are able to help during the evening or donate a raffle prize it would be greatly appreciated.

A Curriculum Outline for your child’s class is attached.
Event List – A list of dates for this half term is attached
School Trip Costs
We are busy arranging school trips for the Summer Term. The cost of transport has risen considerably over the past two years with the increase of fuel charges and consequently the price of school trips has risen accordingly. We always get quotes from 2 or 3 coach companies to get the most competitive price. Please note that school does not make a profit on any school trips and on occasions we have to subsidise the cost. Trip letters will be sent home with the Newsletter when they have been arranged.
Tokens
Please continue to send in Nestle, Sainsburys and Tesco Tokens. We need to collect 7500 ‘Sainsbury’ tokens to buy equipment for Food Technology and a Junior Golf Set. We can collect until 4th June, we have collected 2000 so far. Thank you.
Flora ‘Cooking with Schools’
Flora spread is offering free cooking equipment and resource packs in exchange for tokens on the special Flora packs on sale from June until the end of October. If you buy Flora, please send in your tokens. Thank you.
Netball Finals
Congratulations to the netball team who represented school at the tournament at Spen Valley Sports College. The team are now through to the final at Newsome Sports College on Wednesday 16th April.
Good luck to the team and thank you to Mrs Bordman for organising this event.
A letter giving details about the Netball Finals will be sent home today with the team members.
Parking in the School Car Park
As you are aware, the staff car park is for staff and visitors on school business only. The only exemption is for people who have a valid disabled parking permit who are themselves collecting a child from school. Anyone parking in the car park not displaying a permit will be asked to move. This applies at all times including collecting your child from an after school club. Thank you for your support.
Parents Evening
Thank you for the many positive comments received after parents evening. We value your opinions. A parent suggested a bike shed for the children to use but on investigation we found that it is not recommended for primary age children to travel to school by bike.
The comment box is situated in the main entrance should you have any comments to make. Please remember that you can always speak to staff if you have any queries, you do not need to wait for an open evening.
