Playtime / Lunchtime Tokens
The winners this week are:

Coffee Afternoon – Friday 22nd February from 1.15pm until 3.15pm
A reminder, the PFA are having a Coffee Afternoon on Friday 22nd February from 1.15pm until 3.15pm for parents and friends. Entry is 50p (includes a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit) payable on the door. Donations of cakes and buns will be gratefully received during the morning of 22nd February. Thank you. The Befrienders are running a game for the children to visit. The children will be able to buy a bun and a drink for 30p. If there are any spare buns after all the children have had one, the surplus will be available for sale. The children will be visiting the hall at the following times:-
Canberra     – 1.15pm        Ottowa -   1.30pm            New Delhi - 1.45pm
Paris        -   2pm           Brasilia -   2.15pm            Beijing      - 2.30pm
Nairobi       - 2.45pm       London   -   3.00pm

Mr & Mrs Roger Thornton are delighted to announce the arrival of their son Charlie Max on Monday 18th February. 
 
Family Learning Family Learning Event – London Class (Reception) - Monday 25th February from 1.15pm until 3pm.
We have organised a Family Learning Event in the school hall on Monday 25th February from 1.15pm until 3pm.The theme for this event is ‘My House’.
Parents/carers or extended family members of children in Receptionare invited to book a place to take part in this workshop session, with their child. Places are limited to 20 for this session and we would like a contribution of £1.00 per child for the session to go towards the cost of resources. Unfortunately, due to limited space, younger siblings are not able to attend the event. If you would like to book a place, please collect a form from the school office. Please return your slip together with the £1 contribution in a named envelope and a ticket will be returned to confirm your place.
 
Parent Workshop – Wednesday 27th February 7pm until 8.30pm
A reminder, we are holding a range of workshops covering maths, reading and phonics for all parents. There will be demonstrations of Peer Massage and Brain Gym during the evening. Refreshments will be served on arrival.
 
Unfortunately, due to limited space, the workshops are for parents only. Children are not able to attend the event.
Contact Details Form
We now need to update your child’s contact details each year. This week we are sending home Year 5’s original forms plus a new form for you to complete. There are a couple of additions to the new form that have been requested by the government. The form is double sided and all areas need to be completed. Please ensure that we have a few contact numbers in case of an emergency, numbers for Mum and Dad only are not always enough. Please take a few minutes to complete the form to enable us to have the most up to date information for your child. Please return the form by Tuesday 26th February. Thank you.

Huddersfield Town Football in the Community Training
We currently have two sessions of football training after school each week. Due to a fall in numbers attending the clubs it has been decided to only have one session for KS1 and KS2 together. The session will be held on Wednesday from 3.15 – 4.15pm. Please contact the school office if you have any queries.

Arriving at School
Please ensure that your child does not arrive in the school grounds before 8.40am. Staff are not available to supervise before this time. If you need to drop your child at school early for any reason, please use the Breakfast Club. Thank you for your support in this matter.
 
Jam Jars
We are collecting jam jars to be used on a stall at the Summer Fayre. If you have any jars please send them into school. Thank you.
 
Young Pals Club – Year 1 and 2
Young Pals are running an after school club for children in Year 1 & 2. The club will feature lots of activities and sport and the children will learn about healthy lifestyles. The club will run for four sessions on Thursday from 3.15 until 4pm. The first session is on Thursday 28th February. Places are limited to 24 and will be offered on a first come first served basis. Please contact the school office for a form.
 
Sainsburys Active Kids
Sainsburys are running the Active Kids promotion at the moment. If you have any tokens please send them into school. Thank you.
 
Nestle Box Tops
We collected 453 box tops last year. If we can beat that total this year we will receive an extra bonus! Please send your box tops into school. Thank you.

World Book Day – Thursday 6th March
A reminder, to celebrate World Book Day there will be a variety of activities in school. Children may dress up as their favourite book character for the day. Each child will be given a World Book Day Voucher worth £1 towards the cost of a book. The Book Fair will be in school w/c Monday 10th March and the vouchers may be used as part payment.
 
 
Attendance Extra Playtime
The following classes achieved 97% attendance or over last half term and will enjoy an extra playtime:
London, Nairobi, Brasilia and New Dehli.

Tag Rugby Festival – Tuesday 26th February
We are taking part in the Tag Rugby Festival at the Zone in Huddersfield on Tuesday 26th February. A team of 10 children will represent Roberttown School. The children in Year 5 & 6 who are taking part will receive a letter with further details about the event. Please return the permission slip by tomorrow Friday 22nd February.
 
School Council Recycling in School
The School Council have organised a recycling scheme in school. We have received a recycling bin to collect waste paper from the office and the classrooms.
