What is the PFA......?

........Roberttown J&I School Parents and Friends Association. Our PFA has been an integral part of the school community for many years, and has raised thousands of pounds which has been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children's education and the facilities in school. In the last 2 years alone we have raised a staggering £9000!!!!!

Our funds are raised through the events we run. Our most popular event is the Summer Fair held in June. We also organise a Christmas Fair, Coffee Afternoons, Schools Discos and Treasure Hunts, and last year we held are first Christmas Gift Evening.

The money raised by the PFA is spent in many ways that will benefit the children at Roberttown across all areas of the school, and curriculum, and it is usually spent fairly quickly, so you can be sure that in supporting our events, your own child will feel the benefit.

But the PFA is about more than just fundraising. It exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together in support of the school, working towards a common goal.

All parents are automatically members of the PFA when their children joins our school. Meetings are held once per half term, usually lasting around an hour, where we discuss and plan upcoming events. We hold an Annual General Meeting at the start of the academic year to elect our committee officials. This is a good time to ask questions or voice your opinion, and an ideal opportunity for you hear about events run, funds raised and how the money will be spent.

The committee consists of 3 Officers (Chair, Treasurer and Secretary) and usually 6 or 8 other members to make up the full committee. You can volunteer to be a committee member or you can simply come along to the meetings and give us your ideas for fundraising events. Don't worry, we are ordinary parents/carers of children at Roberttown School, just like you!
