   Welcome to our Befrienders Page

What are Befrienders?

Befrienders is a perr support network which provides a service for any child who feels they need someone to talk to . The service is closely monitored and supported by adult Befrienders, Mrs Mott (ETA), Mrs Thomas (ICT ETA) and Mrs Collis (ETA and LTS) and Mrs Smith (Headteacher).

The Befrienders are volunteers from Years 5 and 6; they are well trained to deal with any problem which may be presented to them. This training includes guidance on when to maintain confidentiality and when a problem is serious enough to be passed over to an adult. The Befrienders not only provide terrific support to other children in school, but also benefit enormously themselves. Being a Befriender is a great responsibility which the children handle with maturity and respect.

Befriender Code

As Befrienders we will:

  • Listen carefully to each person who comes to us with a problem
  • Treat everyone fairly and as we would wish to be treated
  • We will be sensible and mature when dealing with problems and in meetings
  • Remember confidentiality unless we feel that an adult befriender should be told
  • We will work as a team and support each other
  • We will be committed to our role as befrienders
  • We will respect everyone's views, opinions and feelings
  • Try to suggest solutions to the problems
  • We accept sanctions if we make mistakes as agreed by the befriender team

Spring Term

At our Befrienders assembly this term we shared our thoughts on each others qualities. Using these ideas we created a web to show how we are all linked together.

 Roberttown Church Coffee Mornings

On the 8th of January 2009 a selection of three befrienders went to help at the church monthly coffee morning. People from the Roberttown community pay £1.50 and have a lovely morning. The befrienders help serve the tea and also mingle sometimes they also learn a trick. The befrienders get chosen by doing something special during the week or just working hard. The befrienders who went last worked so hard they go a tip!

Autumn Term

This term all our Befrienders, new and old, have completed their training.

At a special Collective Worship new Befrienders were presented their certificates and badges.

Anti-Bullying Week 17th-21st November

What’s This All About?
Every year at Roberttown School the pupils take part in an event called Anti Bullying week. The pupils that organise this event are a listening service called Befrienders. This event is to make you more aware of bulling and how to stop this! We have been running different activities in the hall at playtime including selling wrist bands, handprints and quotes. This year’s slogan has been, about belonging together. Schools all over the country are taking part in Anti Bullying week.
